Chairman’s Letter

Dear Friends and Family,

When I read a book called ‘Passages of Life’ which sets out the distinct states of progress of ours through the unique journey of our lives, I realised that one of the most difficult things we usually face is the decision to consider what to do when a loved one requires more care than the family can provide.  At that stage a nursing home or residential home can provide that extra care and security.  So the question to be answered is “What is the most suitable home?”

The decision confronts us, in perhaps an emotional way and has to be made pragmatically. Therefore one must look for a home that treats family with dignity and respects their right to privacy.

On this website you can look at a list of the prerequisites for a perfect situation.  But more than that, a home where the staff agree imbued with the ethos of awareness which is truly caring.  The latter can be ascertained from the many testimonials we have received.

Another important consideration is accessibility in the environment of a ‘home from home’ with no set visiting hours and encouragement of family and friends to visit as often as convenient.

May I extend, on behalf of the management and staff, a warm welcome to you from Sherwood House.
